As Patron It was an absolute pleasure to be invited by Film Volt to represent Groundwork at the Film Premiere of The Valley in London.
I traveled with Cara Thompson, Janet Rose and Groundwork’s young ambassadors Katie and Laura Hunt.
The young ambassadors were Championing Mental Health as the films story-line was tackling mental health and self confidence issues which were of interest to them.
In life we take so many things for granted, the food we eat, the places we meet and how we arrive at our destinations.
And after watching Katie and Laura take their first train ride and experience their first film Premiere on such a big scale, with the press and cameras snapping away every second was enough to scare anyone away. Yet Katie and Laura embraced every second of it and greeted every stranger with a smile and so the strangers became friends and everyone in the room knew exactly what Groundwork stood for.
Below Katie and Laura presenting Saila Kariat the Director/Producer of The Valley with Best Female Director award from "Out of the Can Film Festival"
They networked with Lords, Actors, Directors and gave awards out to various key people of influence in the media industry and shone brighter than any star in the room.
These incredible two young women are a true representation for tackling barriers and fears head on. Seeing them glowing on stage will be a memory I will hold in my memory box for the rest of my life.
These young inspiring ambassadors have shown the world that you don’t have to change so that people will like you, just be yourself and the right people will find you, love and respect you for who you are.
So my take away message from spending time with these incredible women is never let a stumble in the road be the end of your journey. Because we all are playing a part in our own movie and how it’s directed is up to us .
A BIG thank you goes out to Cara Thompson and Janet Rose for organising everything for us, and despite the challenging weather conditions we had to face and overcome, we all made it there and there’s so many exciting opportunities on the horizon thanks to Groundwork and Mark Busby at Film Volt.

With Christmas and the New Year Over, I’m sure many of you will be thinking about what you would like to receive this year and some of you will be thinking about keeping New Year’s resolutions to yourself or to other people.
You know the kind of thing I mean, you promise to walk the dog more often, visit your family and friends more or even make sure you do your work well before the deadline date.
But do you ever stop to think why some decisions we make we don’t stick to them?
And some we do?
If you had to draw 2 line’s one in cement and one in sand, the line in the sand would gradually blow away and the line in cement would be permanent.
This is just the same with the decisions we make, the key is to consider how important the decision is to you? And does not sticking to your decision Hinder or Help you?
You are given two Shinny glittering box’s the 1st is a beautiful Red box with a big Christmas gold Bow on it and the 2nd box is a winter Green box with a bright Red bow.
You now have 2 blank sheets of white paper and on your 1st sheet of paper you write down at least 5 things that you would like to have more of in 2017, for example, more confidence, good friends, part time job etc and then place the paper inside the Red Box.
You are now left with the Green box and I want you to think of 5 things that you don’t want any more of in 2017 and write them down on the sheet of paper and drop the paper into the box.
So What’s in your Beautiful Red Box?
What do you want more of in 2017? If you make clear decisions you will bring more of want and less of what you don’t want from life. Too many people spend their time and energy complaining about the things they don’t want, instead of focusing on the things they do want and can achieve.
Think about the 5 things you want more of in 2017 and think who can help me with my list.Write it down!
What you want to achieve and by when all the best Millionaire’s started this way so there must be something positive about putting a goal and date in place.
We all make mistakes, don’t be too hard on yourself, every person on the planet learned through experience and making mistakes.
If there is something you are really worried about, and then try not to bottle it up! Seek help and support.
Imagine you have received a postcard from yourself and the year is 2017, what have you achieved? Where will you be?
How many things on your Red box list have you got more of?
Remember your imagination is a very powerful tool and it can take you on so many exciting journeys so don’t be afraid to dream big and plan how you will get there and remember the two top tips on decision making, does this situation HINDER ME OR HELP ME?
“The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.” – Coco Chanel
